History Of Open Source

Open source is the term used for software the open or free source code to see an know the workings  of the software by other people as to improve if there are weaknesses in software.  by ( Esther Dyson 1998 ) is defined as a device software developed mutual help without formal coordination, using the program code which is freely available and distributed via internet. and that the author is able to attract people to use this program, because one advantage is that the open source software can be obtained and used for free without having to play license.

Initially when IBM Sold the commercial computer large scale in 1960 IBM came up with some software that is free, ranging from source code, and later improvisation and modification, but in the late 1960s the situation began to change after IBM software started packages the software, and in the mid 1970s, the software is getting used to a non-free software which causes the user is not allowed to distribute the software, immediately below the code that is not provided so the user can't modify the program.

In the late 1970s, Richard Stallman a programmer formally MIT AI Lab, resigned and launched the GNU Project and Free Software Foundation. The main objective the GNU Project is to build a Free Operating System. And Richard starting with the coding of several programing tools, as a legal tool the GNU General Public License (GPL) was designed not only the ensure that the resulting GNU Software Remains free, but also to develop production of free software.

Throughout the 1980s until the early 1990s, open source software continued its development, starting of few isolated groups USENET an the Internet to help in coordinating efforts between the state and build a strong user community, Slowly much software has been developed starting to integrate. The result of integration, the complete environment can be built on UNIX as the use of open source software.
